1000 Hours of Research Does Not A Researcher Make

The self-appointed “expert” researcher title is harmful to all of us.

Folks, We have a problem.  We have a vast amount of Covid misinformation, lies, and manipulations of the truth from self-proclaimed experts, from politicians, and from folks with far-right ideology.    

Even though I’ve been a Republican all my life, I had not been involved as I should in state or local politics until the beginning of the pandemic.  I started then to follow many Republican FB groups. 

Unfortunately the Republican Women of Baltimore County Club has had speakers who have no clue about the medical science surrounding Covid.  From Dan Cox who promotes IVM and HCQ inappropriately, to his running mate Gordana Schifanelli employing VAERS data inappropriately, to public policy people who have no experience in clinical work, to people in grassroots efforts to unmask kids using ten-year-old science. 

I have found that too often, RWBC invites the speaker to fit their ideology, rather than finding the best speaker who is actually an expert and can provide the scientific reasoning necessary in these times. 

Tuesday night, Republican Women of Baltimore County had a speaker (I won’t mention his name out of some respect for him) who by trade is an artist, a writer, a photographer.  I commend him for his talents and the work he has done in THOSE areas.   

But this gentleman is NOT skilled at medical research, nor does he begin to understand medical science.    

His vaccine research he spoke to at this meeting, and provided via websites, is horrible, ideologically driven, poor quality.  He went to propaganda websites or manipulated the information provided by CDC, FDA etc. to find the story he wanted to tell. .. not the story that was scientific.  There was no good medical science involved in his talk or his written research. 

Some of his biased ideology shows up in his language in his “research”: 

• Unapproved gene therapy drugs (speaking to the Covid vaccines)

• CDC pulling a “slight of hand”

• Penetrate your cell walls with genetic code that teaches your cells to create spike proteins.

• RRR (relative risk reduction) vs. ARR (Absolute Risk Reduction) 

• Me:  He does NOT understand this. 

• Nuremburg Codes (Please folks, this is one old tired talking point

  that is absurd.)

• Bait and switch.

• The vaccines do not create immunity. .. Me: uh, yes they do, sir!

• Big pharma tentacles.

• Thousands of reported deaths!  Me:  Again, no.  

• Clot shots.

• Jab, maimed. 

• Gaslighting.

• Lifetime sterilization?????  Me:  Good grief, it doesn’t.

See the verbiage used to get an emotional rise out of the reader?  This is not how medical science is presented.  

When did Republicans lose their ability to trust science?  To trust experts in their own field? To be rational? 

Let’s see if you get my drift:  “I researched how my knee replacement should be done. . .so I’ll find the physician that allows me to tell him how to proceed with surgery.”  

Here’s the truth:

• The vaccines are working. Look at the primary endpoints coming from the clinical trials.

• The occupied Covid beds in hospitals right now are 85%  unvaccinated.

• The vaccinated who are coming into hospital generally are supported with some O2, and released within a couple of days.  

• PCR tests are working and docs know how to use the results.

• Omicron is not “mild”.  It is a serious disease.  

• We CAN mask up – it will help.

• Vaccinated immunocompromised can still struggle through a Covid infection and die.

• VAERS data is being seriously misused.

• The vaccine is NOT gene therapy.

• There are no slights of hand. 

• Big pharma has no “plots”.

• Healthcare workers are angry, pissed off, discouraged,  exhausted.  They deserve our cooperation.

• The number of hospitalized children with Covid has grown 5x. 

• Children have died of Covid.

• The unvaccinated are swamping the hospitals such that  important surgeries (i.e., for cancer) are delayed.  

• Therapeutics to treat Covid will be in extremely short supply because both mAB and anti-virals are very complicated to manufacture. 

It is time for Republicans to start recognizing that their personal “freedoms” (not vaccinating, not masking) are harming and killing other people. 

This kind of self-appointed “expert” researcher title is harmful to all of us.
