American Eats: West Virginia. Drover's Inn
As much as I gushed about Duff’s Wings up in Buffalo, there are better wings in this world outside of Buffalo. Yes, I know that is a controversial stance.
Drover’s is not your typical wing joint. It looks like it is a restarurant and tavern pigeonholed into a house built in 1848. Which is precisely what it is. You would not know the quality of the food that you were going to get based on its appearance. The only dead giveaway the last time I went was the line to get into the place.
Drover’s serves a lot of food. I could not tell you anything about it because I have only gotten the wings. Which are practically perfect in every way, which a number of heat levels and flavor choices. They have their own homemade blue cheese dipping sauce if that’s what you’re into (I prefer ranch myself).
It’s one of those places where you probably never heard of it unless you knew somebody from that particular part of the Ohio Valley. But once you have tasted their wings, you will never forget it and look forward to finding a reason to go get more….
