Arizona Audit Reaches Obvious Conclusion

When even the Trump-loving Cyber Ninjas can't find evidence fraud, maybe it's time to move on

In a result that surprised absolutely nobody, the performance art masquerading as an election audit in Maricopa County, Arizona confirmed the obvious:

A monthslong hand recount of Maricopa County’s 2020 vote confirmed that President Joe Biden won and the election was not “stolen” from former President Donald Trump, according to early versions of a report prepared for the Arizona Senate.

The three-volume report by the Cyber Ninjas, the Senate’s lead contractor, includes results that show Trump lost by a wider margin than the county’s official election results. The data in the report also confirms that U.S. Sen. Mark Kelly won in the county.

I mean…..

Somehow, the auditors come up with the idea that the results are “inconclusive”. The best part about the report is this little nugget:

The draft reports reviewed by The Republic minimize the ballot counts and election results and instead focus on issues that raise questions about the election process and voter integrity.

Yeah, I can’t imagine why the report wants to gloss over the fact that the audit didn’t overturn the results of the election as everybody from Donald Trump on down has been promises for half-a-year.

I wrote back in February that the Arizona Republicans continue to find new and creative ways to shoot themselves in the foot and pretty much everything I wrote back then about the pointless audit and the descent of the Arizona GOP into madness is still true.

So that leads me to this question: at what point will super-Trumpkins give up the ghost? At what point will they finally realize it was all a lie? At what point will they finally realize that Trump is nothing but a huckster, a charlatan, who sold them some snake oil?

What concerns me is that many of them many of them will not.

Trump certainly has it. The ex-President who has always lived in a world of his own delusions continues to push the Big Lie. He continues to show his disdain for the our electoral process and our constitutional norms by now asking Texas to audit their election. What does Texas have to do with overturning the election? Nothing but Trump continues to want to degrade confidence in American elections.

Is their some level of fraud in American elections? Yeah, and you don’t have to look too far to see a Presidential election that was changed by it. But 1960 was a long time ago, elections have changed and are more secure than they have ever been. These claims of widespread voter fraud are just ludicrous, insane, and despicable in the way they are destabilizing our country.

(Democrats should remember that they aren’t innocent here)

When you combine the continued obsession with audits and lies about the election along with things like the this, the Trumpian picture of the world is clear.

That memo has been called a “tragedy of errors” even by Trump supporters.

Trump and Trumpism remains what he has always been: a cancer on the GOP and an un-American rejection of constitutional governance. It needs to stop. Not just for the good of what remains of conservatism, but for the good of the country.
