Why are you running for office?*
I made the decision to run for County Executive after the current one demonstrated his inept leadership abilities for the past three years. First, he raised and added new taxes after pledging to keep them low during his 2018 campaign. Throughout the pandemic, he made a lot of bad errors in judgment. From unlawful business shutdowns and school closures to not thoroughly educating the public on preventing SARS-CoV-2 hospitalization. By April 2020, early treatments were discovered to prevent severe COVID-19 infections, but they were not implemented in Baltimore County. Conservative estimates are that around six out of ten deaths could have been prevented. Chronic COVID-19 AKA "Long COVID" may have also been prevented as well. Then in 2021 and 2022, John Olszewski Jr. and his staff ignored "vaccine" safety risks while enforcing virtually useless face mask mandates. Finally, after the dust settled this month (May 2022), the U.S. Food and Drug Administration restricted access to the Johnson & Johnson/Janssen COVID-19 vaccine due to blood clotting side effects. Unfortunately, the other two brands also pose their own dangers. Web sites such as RealNotRare.com and covidvaccineinjuries.com chronicle stories about people whose lives have been forever changed due to the "safe" injections. To this day, County Executive Olszewski and the Baltimore County Department of Health also refuse to acknowledge prior infection immunity protections. The County Executive's bragging about how much money the government has, while residents are spending more for basic goods and services every month shows how out of touch he is with cost of living/inflation. As I canvass the County, residents tell me that their basic needs still aren't being met. Issues such as rat traps, sidewalks, pot holes and code enforcement. Some residents don't feel safe going out on Friday and Saturday nights. So, we're now paying higher taxes for a lesser quality County.
Who do you consider your political role model, and why?*
President Franklin Delano Roosevelt From his fireside chats to World War II and digging us out of the Great Depression, he is perhaps the most admired president during the last century. After all, he won four presidential elections! His policies were a boon to the American middle class and the USA prospered under his administration. He made some very tough decisions all while battling a physical illness. His administration wasn't perfect but overall he was a great leader.
What is your favorite book about politics and policy, and why?*
1984 by George Orwell Written as a warning, not a user manual. It's well past time to reverse the Orwellian policies that elite politicians have set into place!
What will be your top priority in office?*
Enacting policies that allow for more job/career opportunities and less reliance on college debt.
What is the biggest issue facing your area?*
Cost of living increases. Residents are struggling to fulfill the American Dream in large part thanks to pandemic era policies.
What are the three biggest issues facing Maryland?*
Crime, government corruption and public education quality.
What is your position on life issues? (abortion, assisted suicide)*
These are very personal choices and both should be lawful.
What is your position on taxes and spending?*
I will fight to reduce property taxes/real property assessments for Baltimore County's retirees. The government's budget will also be reduced so that more money stays in residents' bank accounts. Spending has been out of control for far too long at the national, state and local levels. So, in addition to County actions, I'll plan on speaking with members of Congress so the value of the dollar starts to increase every year instead of decrease!
What is your position on gun rights?*
If elected Baltimore County Executive, I'm required by law to swear an oath to defend the Constitution. And I will take that oath very seriously so as to not violate Title 18 USC Sections 241 and 242.
What is your position on the legalization of marijuana?*
Marijuana growth, possession and use should be decriminalized.
What is your position on the current three-tiered system for the sale and distribution of alcohol?*
It's an obsolete system, created after the Prohibition era ended, that creates distributor monopolies and increases costs to the consumer. One big benefit is that it keeps a lot of Marylanders employed.
What is your position on land use, growth, and development?*
Baltimore County traffic increases have created a public safety issue. In twenty years time, the population has grown from approximately 750,000 residents to over 850,000. Over development of residential real estate has led to overcrowded schools and "rush hour" that now lasts from around 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM. The County must preserve our green spaces and address these capacity issues before allowing even more developments that exacerbate existing problems.
What is your position on crime and public safety?*
I believe that the current administration is soft on crime. Baltimore City's problems are becoming Baltimore County's problems because of this. Marilyn Mosby's office should have never been allowed to selectively enforce laws and if I were County Executive she would have heard from me quite often. Simply put, we need to punish criminals...especially violent criminals. Plea deals re-victimize victims of crime. If that means more jails and prisons have to be built, then that's what needs to be done. But I hope through my proposed job opportunity policies, we can avoid many crimes that are related to poverty.
What is your position on county tax caps?*
Assuming this question is about real property assessment caps, I support them and believe that they should be lowered even more. I will also institute a property audit and put limits on real estate investor purchases and international real estate buyers.
Was Joe Biden legitimately elected President of the United States in the November 2020 Election?*
Yes
Do you pledge to accept the results of your election?*
Yes
