Why are you running for office? *
I want to bring a fresh perspective to the Montgomery County Board of Education. I bring many years of mental health experience with me, which is needed on the Board now more than ever. I want to be a person who asks questions and isn't afraid to be the only dissenting voice. It is also important to have voices of current MCPS parents on the Board, and I fit that description.
Who do you consider your political role model, and why? *
The Board of Education is non-partisan, therefore, non-political.
What is your favorite book about politics and policy, and why? *
The Board of Education is non-partisan, therefore, non-political.
What will be your top priority in office? *
Transparency with and accountability to stakeholders- the students and families of MCPS. And with that, bringing the mental health services that MCPS needs and the students are asking for, to the schools.
What is the biggest issue facing your area? *
The health, wellness, and safety of MCPS students.
What are the three biggest issues facing Maryland? *
Issues facing MCPS are my concern being that I am running for School Board and not for a political position that represent the whole of Maryland. Three big issues for MCPS are: the need for increased mental health services, the need for better safety protocols, and better communication to the MCPS community.
What is your position on life issues? (abortion, assisted suicide) *
This is not a relevant issue to running for School Board, nor is it an area that a School Board member would have voting power on.
What is your position on taxes and spending? *
Fiscal responsibility and transparency is necessary at all levels. Spending within MCPS needs to be prioritized for increased mental health services and the hiring of qualified professionals who can deliver those services, this would include money collected from school taxes.
What is your position on gun rights? *
This is not a relevant issue to running for School Board, nor is it an area that a School Board member would have voting power on.
What is your position on the legalization of marijuana? *
This is not a relevant issue to running for School Board, nor is it an area that a School Board member would have voting power on.
What is your position on the current three-tiered system for the sale and distribution of alcohol? *

What is your position on land use, growth, and development? *

What is your position on crime and public safety? *
This is not a relevant issue to running for School Board, nor is it an area that a School Board member would have voting power on. I can only speak to school safety (not public safety). My position is to engage all members of the MCPS community: teachers/staff/admin, families, and students in discussions about safety protocols, and what they need and want and the reasons behind their viewpoints.
What is your position on county tax caps? *
This is not a relevant issue to running for School Board, nor is it an area that a School Board member would have voting power on.
