Political Experience*
I do not have any traditional political experience. I have always paid attention to the political world and followed it. I have served many years on the Realtors Legislative Committee, where we review legislation that affects property rights and the real estate industry. I was shocked to see how easily bad legislation can be enacted simply because the general population is unaware of what is going on.

Why are you running for office?*
As a lifelong resident of West Anne Arundel County, I want to continue to make this the best place to live, work, and play. I do not want a career politician in office-- Anne Arundel County deserves better than someone who values their career more than the people. As a 'middle-of-the-road' Republican, I will be the voice for the people of my community when in office. I fear that if a Democrat is in office, they will follow their party lines in order to maintain their career status. They will continue taking us farther left than I think most people are comfortable with. I have found that most of us want the same: safe neighborhoods, good schools, and to not be overburdened with taxes or regulation. We need a leader, someone to stand up for the people. We need someone who has a skill set that requires them to work and negotiate with an opposing side and still make things happen-- and I can do that. That is why I believe I am the best choice for District 33A.
Who do you consider your political role model, and why?*
Ronald Reagan. The first time I ever voted, I voted for Reagan. I liked many things about him, particularly his philosophy about government. I think his style and manner appealed to most people. He believed in a strong military, small government, and he appointed the first female to the Supreme Court, Sandra Day O'Connor. He was respected around the world and so was the USA.
What is your favorite book about politics and policy, and why?*
I am currently reading "$2.00 a Day: Living on Almost Nothing in America"
What will be your top priority in office?*
My top priority is the safety of Marylanders. Our citizens are only as safe as our law enforcement officers, so I am determined to offer our officers the best pay, training, and support do to their job. Right now, morale is down and crime is only getting worse. If we want to get crime under control, we need to re-evaluate how we view our first responders. olice used to be respected. Our safety is at stake when morale is low and there are only 10 recruits in the academy. We need to incentivize applicants to ensure that our law enforcement is comprised of only the best individuals so that we can feel safe in our communities again.
What is the biggest issue facing your area?*
To start, our infrastructure and schools are not adequate to handle the amount of growth we have seen over the past decade. We are not keeping up with the influx of families and our schools are reflecting that. Traffic and accidents plague our area-- Route 3 is a disaster. For the past 10 years, Anne Arundel County was roped into District 21 which is represented by the Prince Georges County Delegation. The Prince George's County Delegation is great, however, they do not understand the issues that Anne Arundel County faces. We haven't had representation by someone in our own community in over ten years. This is a tremendous opportunity for us to be represented by someone who has a deep understanding of Anne Arundel County issues.
What are the three biggest issues facing Maryland?*
Crime, cost of living, and helping small businesses recover from the COVID shutdowns and overregulation.
What is your position on life issues? (abortion, assisted suicide)*
I am pro-life but I understand that is not an absolute. I don't believe in abortion as birth control and I don't think it should be funded by tax dollars. I believe there are medical reasons, as well as situations of rape and incest, and those discussions are to be left between the woman and her health care provider. While I believe that those who are terminally ill/special circumstances have a right to die on their own terms, I feel that there is a lot that needs to be considered before this actually comes to fruition. This can be a slippery slope as it can be abused, for ex. family members making these decisions on behalf of someone else in pursuit of their own personal gain, etc.-- I want to ensure that we are protecting our vulnerable populations from people who want to misuse the system.
What is your position on taxes and spending?*
I think tax and spending needs to be brought under control. We need to evaluate how we are funding the 'special programs' because our state has a history of wasteful spending. We currently have a budget surplus-- so why would we need to increase taxes on our citizens? Though I applaud the Hogan administration for passing a balanced budget every year he's been in office, I believe that there are some areas in which we could cut spending.
What is your position on gun rights?*
I support the 2nd amendment, though I do believe that there needs to be regulation.
What is your position on the legalization of marijuana?*
I do not believe in the legalization of marijuana for recreational use. I do not believe there is a duality here-- there are not any other drugs that are medicinal that we would push for recreational use as well. Once it's passed I think it opens new problems.
What is your position on the current three-tiered system for the sale and distribution of alcohol?*
I understand the three tiered system and its implementation but not sure if there needs to be updates to it. I would prefer to hear both sides before making a decision.
What is your position on land use, growth, and development?*
We need strategic growth in West Anne Arundel County to support the jobs in Ft. Meade and surrounding area. There is a need for housing for the middle income people and first time homebuyers. I do not support the overabundance of apartments in West Anne Arundel County, nor the out of state companies building the apartments receiving a fee in lieu of paying taxes for 40 years. I feel we would be better served to have houses/condos that first time buyers could purchase to grow equity and build sustainable communities, not transitional housing.
What is your position on crime and public safety?*
First and foremost, our citizens need to be safe. We have experienced a rise in crime and lack of responsibility. We need to hold everyone accountable starting with the criminals and the court system.
What is your position on county tax caps?*
I support tax caps.
For candidates for the General Assembly: Legislators can receive $101 per day for lodging and $47 per day for meals during the 90-day General Assembly session. If elected, do you plan to accept these benefits? Why or why not?
I live close to Annapolis and intend to be home daily. If I am held over due to weather etc. I would consider the per diem for the rare occassion.
Was Joe Biden legitimately elected President of the United States in the November 2020 Election?*
Yes
Do you pledge to accept the results of your election?*
Yes
