Why are you running for office? *

I'm just a Mom trying to change the world, one child at a time. I was born to advocate and have a history of standing up for change when I believe there is a need. At this time, I feel the families, students, teachers, and administrators of Charles County could benefit from someone like me who will elevate and magnify their voices.

Who do you consider your political role model, and why? *

I am not a career politician. I consider myself an advocate and therefore, do not aspire to be like any particular politician.

What is your favorite book about politics and policy, and why? *

What will be your top priority in office? *

My top priorities will be equitable solutions for all students, encouraging parental engagement, transparent communication, and teacher advocacy and supports.

What is the biggest issue facing your area? *

Charles County has a teacher shortage which has been ongoing for sometime. The pandemic has only exacerbated this issue. I believe with focusing on advocating, incentivizing, and supporting our educators, we can help bring quality teachers to the county who will enhance and enrich our school system for everyone.

What is your position on taxes and spending? *

In terms of the school system budget, I feel that our priorities in Charles County Public Schools should be to invest in our teachers, student supports, and our technology and infrastructure in order to not only meet but to exceed academic benchmarks.

What is your position on land use, growth, and development? *

In terms of how the use of land in Charles County impacts the public school system, I feel the Commissioners should engage the Board of Education regularly before making decisions on growth and development in the county. Because overpopulation in certain areas can have negative impacts on our schools, the Board of Education and County Government officials need to work collaboratively to make the decisions that are best for all Charles County residents and not based solely on capital gains.
