Why are you running for office? *
I want to make a difference here in Montgomery County. I see the potential for improving the quality of life in the county for all residents and I want to help make that happen. I want to attack the problems of affordable housing, helping education to recover from the Pandemic, and facilitating economic development and job growth.
Who do you consider your political role model, and why? *
Martin Luther King jr is one of my leadership role models because he fought for what he believed in and sacrificed his life trying to do so. His approach to policy was wholistic and sought to raise the boats of everyone.
What is your favorite book about politics and policy, and why? *
One of my favorite books is Strength to Love by MLK because it describes a philosophy that causes one to endure through the greatest opposition possible in persevering for a cause that can changed a generation.
What will be your top priority in office? *
My top priority will be to provide leadership to the county that raises the level of equity in all quadrants of the county and provide greater economic opportunity, greater educational experience, and enable residents greater opportunity to purchase homes and achieve their dreams.
What is the biggest issue facing your area? *
Equity is one of the biggest issues facing East county.
What are the three biggest issues facing Maryland? *
Three big issues facing Maryland include helping our teachers and students recover from the Pandemic, affordable housing, and job growth.
What is your position on life issues? (abortion, assisted suicide) *
I am against assisted suicide. I believe we should sustain life as much as possible. I am pro-life but I care about the woman having the abortion or choosing to have her child. In either instance they both need emotional and financial care during and after.
What is your position on taxes and spending? *
I believe we need to reduce taxes on the middle class where possible.
What is your position on gun rights? *
I support the 2nd amendment, however we need to hold gun owners accountable if their weapons are not stored in locked cases especially when they are used by others to commit mass shootings.
What is your position on the legalization of marijuana? *
I believe in evidence based policy and there is a mountain of evidence to show that this is a bad idea. Marijuana effects brain development, causes slow reaction time, poor judgement, problems with memory and learning, and increases the likelihood of making poor choices, and it can cause one to see things that are not there and other symptoms of psychosis.
What is your position on the current three-tiered system for the sale and distribution of alcohol? *
It seems to provide enough regulation for the safe purchase and consumption of alcohol.
What is your position on land use, growth, and development? *
We should use land with a view toward the future: factors to weigh are growth of the community and needs for family housing, protecting spaces for wildlife and parks, and business/job growth.
What is your position on crime and public safety? *
We need to increase resources to Police and foster better communication and relationships between the local community and police.
What is your position on county tax caps? *
I think tax caps are good if they cause legislators to pause prior to raising property taxes and other assessments.
Was Joe Biden legitimately elected President of the United States in the November 2020 Election? *
Yes
Do you pledge to accept the results of your election? *
Yes
