In September, I reported about how former Maryland Republican gubernatorial candidate Charles Lollar again resurfaced as a candidate for office in Georgia as a candidate for the Douglasville City Council.
You will not be surprised to learn how this turned out:
In Ward 3, Post 1, incumbent LaShun Burr Danley led with 522 votes, while opponent Marvin A. Davis had 180 votes. Incumbent Sam Davis also led the race for Ward 3, Post 2 with 461 votes, while his opponents Charles Lollar and John Rogers had 113 votes and 130 votes, respectively.
Lollar finished third-in a three-way race.
I have extensively covered Lollar’s disastrous political career in Maryland. Lollar made history in 2014 as the first candidate to ever lose two separate races in one year, finishing a distant 3rd in the race for Governor in the primary, and finishing a distant 2nd as a Republican nominee for Charles County Commissioner.
In 2020, Lollar reinvented himself as an independent social justice candidate for Congress last year. Lollar failed to qualify for the ballot
With his latest loss, Lollar’s career record at running for office runs to 0-8. He has now failed at races for:
Cobb County (GA) Council, 2002
Cobb County School Board, 2004
Governor of Maryland, 2010 (before he learned he was ineligible to run)
Congress, 5th Congressional District (MD), 2010
Governor of Maryland, 2014
Charles County Commissioner (MD), 2014
Congress, 13th Congressional District (GA), 2020
Douglasville (GA) City Council, 2021
One will assume that Lollar will again run for office soon, possibly as early as next year. Some guys just can’t get take the hint.
