Controversial Transgender Teacher On Indefinite Leave
Chesapeake High School teacher Willa Hoard has been at the center of controversy regarding transgenderism and the school's Gay Straight Alliance.
A controversial transgender teacher at Chesapeake High School in Anne Arundel County is on indefinite leave.
According to a letter sent to parents from School Principal John Yore, Social Studies Teacher Willa “Billie” Hord be “away from our building indefinitely”.
Hoard, a biological male born as William Edward Hoard, teaches Social Studies at the school. Hoard legally changed their name to Willa Edlyn Hoard in March of this year.1
Hoard wrote about the transition:
So it turns out I’m a woman. Surprise!
I guess, to be more specific, I am a woman of the transgender variety. Which is to say that I am a woman who was mistaken for a little boy at birth, whose family and society ran with that since my body matched the expectations they had, first for a boy and later for a man, who only fully realized my own womanhood a few years ago and who is just now telling the world that-well intentioned as I am sure it was-we were all wrong about my gender.
A parent has alleged that Hoard, advisor to the Gay Straight Alliance, was grooming their child.
Hoard has also allegedly participated in a Discord server with other current students at Chesapeake.
Kristy Rush, a parent at the school, has alleged that a teacher at the school filed a peace order against her and the order was recently dismissed. Rush has posted a number of statements regarding Hoard and the Gay Student Alliance on her Facebook page, including alleged videos of activity that occurs during Alliance meetings.
Hoard recently filed for a peace order which was denied, which is roughly in the same time frame as the order Rush alleges.
Rush has established a legal defense fund.
When reached for confirmation about the leave and when School employees were first made aware of the alleged activity, Anne Arundel County Board of Education Spokesman Bob Mosier said:
“We can’t comment on personnel matters and as a result, I am unable to answer your questions below. What I can tell you is that Chesapeake High School families have been apprised of a letter from the school’s principal that has been posted online.”
