We all know that Donald Trump consistently lied or misled people with his claims. Even if you are a Trump supporter, you must realize this.
My question is: How far will a Trump endorsed candidate take on this Trump practice of misleading voters?
Dan Cox posted a Facebook comment around the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos this week. He states (referring to Kelly Schulz): “Now, let’s hear what my opponent believes and has to say about this issue. Likely crickets because she launched and is on the steering board of the Global Pandemic Prevention Center. “
In another Facebook post, Dan Cox responds to the WHO international treaty on pandemic prevention and preparedness: “My opponent (Kelly Schulz) helped found the new $2 billion Global Pandemic Prevention Center in Rockville which will work with the WHO and CDC to “monitor” the people of pandemics. This surveillance includes vaccine passports which I will refuse to be allowed here in Maryland.”

Let’s unpack Dan’s false statements and misrepresentation of the facts:
1. Kelly Schulz WAS on the steering committee for The Global Prevention and Response Center. She is NO LONGER the Secretary of Commerce for Maryland – ex officio.
“As to the scare tactics and hyperbole of Mrs. Smith’s letter — yes, Bernadette, it is hyperbole to the point of untruth. Schulz is not a part of a Global Pandemic & Biodefense Center. Her name is listed as a public sector ex officio (by virtue of her office) of the Regional Congress of Connected DMV (a public, private, academic and community organization for the District, Maryland, Virginia), not the center. The secretary of commerce of the Commonwealth of Virginia also serves ex officio to Connected DMV.”
Yes, Dan, your statement is also hyperbole and misrepresentation of the facts.
Dan’s next false statement:
2. “Includes vaccine passports”? I have read every bit of the Global Pandemic Prevention and Biodefense Center on-line materials, and I do NOT see anything that refers to a “vaccine passport”.
Even by its Mission Statement, the focus is on mAB’s:
“The Global Pandemic Prevention and Biodefence Center will help prevent future outbreaks from becoming pandemics by developing a stockpile of human monoclonal antibodies in advance for emerging infectious disease, and by integrating antibody distribution and delivery across the global health and pandemic prevention ecosystem.”
Dan, you are a fool if you refuse to see the necessity of having an organization like this to coordinate efforts for pandemic purposes. I DO know something about mAB’s. When Covid hit, every mAB biotech company started scrambling to see if they could develop a mAB that would be effective. This does NOT happen overnight. We literally lost a year of being able to contain the outbreaks and to provide lifesaving therapeutics for Covid. We failed to prepare.
Note the timeframe to develop and manufacture a mAB:

This Center will be surveilling viruses, bacteria, disease across the globe WITH the biotech companies already part of the Center, so that they CAN develop the mAB NOW – NOT 12 MONTHS AFTER 500,000 people have died. The Center will be responsible for ensuring availability of a stockpile of this therapeutic. Would it not be nice to know we have a therapeutic from the start of a possible pandemic? Just think about the possibility of having this technology that can be sent to an outbreak to treat the ill AND squash the outbreak so that we DON’T have a global pandemic?
Please notice the graphic below: “The Center will fill a critical pandemic prevention and response gap, collaborating across a public-private ecosystem.” Direct from the Strategic Plan of the organization. Notice the mAB puzzle piece filling the missing piece for pandemic preparedness?
Notice the graphic below again from the Global Response Strategic Plan: mAB’s, antivirals, and vaccines form a complementary ecosystem and can combine to provide a comprehensive pandemic prevention and response toolkit.
So, for everyone’s understanding: The ability of mAB’s to squash a pandemic include:
Prevention (before exposure)
Post-exposure prophylaxis (after exposure or infection but before the onset of disease)
Therapy of mild disease to prevent hospitalization
Therapy of moderate disease to prevent admission to the ICU
Therapy of severe disease to prevent death.
Dan’s comment on the vaccine passports also indicates his lack of understanding:
I’m asking Dan: If mAB’s can do all the above to squash a pandemic, then why do we need vaccine passports?
Dan’s third false comment:
3. “Monitor the people of pandemics”? What Dan? This is such an asinine comment. Trying to rile the base?
No, this Center does NOT “monitor people”, but it will monitor the virus, the bacteria, the cause of an outbreak. We will let the healthcare workers monitor the ill people from such an outbreak.
Action Items for Dan Cox:
Dan, PLEASE schedule a preceptorship on Pandemics, virology, and epidemiology. SOMETHING!!! It’s all about preparedness, innovation and response.
Dan, please read the Strategic Plan and the website for proper information from The Center. It is ALL about mAB’s. Then speak to these questions:
Are you against having therapeutics available at the start of an epidemic?
Are you against being part of the solution in sending mAB’s to the country where the outbreak started? So we can stop the outbreak?
Do you want an epidemic to turn into a pandemic?
Do you merely want “every man for himself”? And killing and harming far more people than necessary.
Dan, If you are going to continue to speak ill of this entire project, please be fair and denounce Governor Youngkin and his Secretary of Commerce. Fair is fair, right. And I’m certain you want to give full disclosure and transparency?
Dan, try and spit out the words: Pharma/biotech have a significant role in our current and all future pandemic responses.
My last action item. I’ll be glad to sit down with you and teach you about mAB’s. Their use in a variety of diseases, what their Mechanism of Action is (MOA), the difference in large and small molecule AB’s, the manufacturing process, the discovery process.
Dan Cox is ill-informed. He manipulates the truth. Cox would have us all cut off our nose to spite our face, in order to reject anything that he assigns to conspiracy against “freedom”. He would pull the plug on our endeavor to have the necessary mAB’s ready to squash the next pandemic. No, it appears that Coxdoes not care for Marylanders. He would be responsible for death, illness, economic destruction to Maryland with his inability to understand the necessity of being prepared.
This is where we are if you vote for Dan Cox: No preparedness for the next pandemic. We do NOT need a repeat of Covid 19 lack of preparedness. Dan would have us fail again.
Kelly Schulz has vision to save our lives, our health, our economy by understanding pandemic preparedness and response.
We simply don’t have time to waste. Kelly Schulz gets it, Dan does not!!!
(I think perhaps some Maryland media outlet should start the Pinocchio concept from the Washington Post. Or maybe we can send this to the Washington Post and see how many Pinocchio’s go to Dan.)
