Dan Cox is a clear and present danger to the health and lives of Marylanders. He again wants to stoke fear in his constituents by using the “control” word. He also has chosen not to research the medical and economic implications of pandemics. But he does shoot from the hip on subjects he knows little of!
He posted on his SM: “$2.5 BILLION Globalist medical control launched right here in Maryland by none other than my opponent, one of its founders. Need another reason to vote for me?”
Sir, I have every reason to vote AGAINST you!
Cox’s beef is with Montgomery County, MD as the county is now the home to the new Global Pandemic Prevention and Biodefense Center. I really don’t see any coherent message from Dan Cox, as he screams “freedom” and “control” re: masks and vaccines and mAB’s. He was bellyaching just a couple of months ago about the “withholding” of mAB’s without understanding anything about mAB’s. Now he is speaking out against the development of mAB’s for our national stockpile, to be used when the next pandemic comes. What is it, Dan, do you want mAB’s or not?
Yes, the Maryland Department of Commerce and therefore Kelly Schultz (a very suitable choice for Governor!) were involved.
Let’s first look at the failures of this pandemic within the US and then we will get to Dan Cox’ ridiculous comment above. Failures:
The obscene politicization of this pandemic. This is telling!
Deaths per 1m population.
US is certainly NOT the example to follow:
Eric Topol: US Covid deaths are now averaging 2,400 per day. 3,000 more lost souls were reported today. The death toll is still rising sharply during the Omicron wave. Nearly all these fatalities were preventable.

Failure to protect our children:
Decentralizing the response, so that 50 states were doing their own thing leaving us with no centralized management of the pandemic. We need the expertise on a national level the identification of the next pandemic. We need at the national level the ability to predict the therapeutics needed AND stockpiled. We need the national capability of sequencing strains or variants of the organism.
Let’s stay in context with what Dan Cox confusingly has posted. He was previously angered when the two mABs for the Delta variant were no longer available as Omicron became the dominant variant. The government stopped the shipment of the two mABs because those two mABs simply did NOT work for Omicron. Therefore there was NO reason to send out product that cost $$$ and would not be effective. Glaxo received the EUA for their mAB effective against Omicron. Dan Cox does not want to understand this. He merely wants to pick a fight.
What did we do correctly in the pandemic? Many things, but most notably, our pharma/biotech expertise, along with collaboration with FDA, doing away with bureaucratic nonsense:
“This will go down in history as one of science and medical research's greatest achievements. Perhaps the most impressive. I put together a preliminary timeline of some key milestones to show how several years of work were compressed into months.” -- Eric Topol, MD

Here we are. Dan Cox was angry because we did not have the mAB’s readily available for Omicron. Yet, he is now opposed to this new Global Pandemic Prevention and Biodefense Center? I seriously doubt he even researched this Center.
What is this Center going to be tasked with? “Working together, the Center will deliver an ambitious, medical countermeasures program that aims to develop and stockpile mABs for the world’s top 100 pathogens across the 25 pathogen families most likely to cause future pandemics while also driving equitable economic growth in the DMV.” https://www.connecteddmv.org/pandemic-center
Sounds like Dan Cox is opposed to the further development of medical pandemic science, along with the discovery, development and stockpiling of mAB’s ready for use when the next pandemic hits. It also looks like Dan Cox is opposed to economic growth in the DMV area. I would say that this is not such a good look for a candidate running for governor.
We should be demanding our next governor initiate effective planning for our next pandemic. She must encourage those scientific centers to work globally and be a leader in pandemic therapeutics. (Yes, Dan we have to be globally-minded with a global pandemic.)
Dan Cox does not understand the needs of Marylanders while we are still in this pandemic, nor does he understand how to get us ready for the next pandemic. Dan Cox is not taking our medical strengths and using them to protect us. He is in fact quite misinformed about medical advances and has not shown a desire to understand. He would have us here as sitting ducks with the next pathogen arrives, without our having anything in our stockpiles.
Kelly Schulz has proven she wants to protect Marylanders.
Remember Dan, removing “control” and gaining “freedom” from masks, vaccines and mAB’s actually give this virus all the “control and freedom” to prolong this pandemic. We need a leader, not a panderer. We need a leader who understands medical science and encourages innovation. We need a leader who understands a new pandemic will hit. We must learn from this miserable experience -- that this country has much to do to be prepared for the next pandemic.
“How can a country hope to stay 10 steps ahead of tomorrow’s viruses when it can’t stay one step ahead of today’s?”’ – Ed Yong
Dan Cox will not prepare us for the future. Dan Cox is not the candidate for Maryland. Dan Cox is a danger for the future of Maryland.
Cox is either one of two things: a “QAnon” FBI PsyOp, or a profoundly deranged lunatic. Not sure which. Which one do you guys think he is?
Barb, Cox isn't wrong about COVID. Stop living in fear.
