Dan Cox: Master of Propaganda
Dan Cox is not telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. And he should know better.
In a recent video taken at a Baltimore County campaign event on June 1, Dan Cox says:
1.“When you hear about the WHO treaty that is being negotiated by our governor to potentially usurp your rights with a unilateral declaration of emergency powers, that the governors can then wash their hands. So the executives we elect here can just point overseas somewhere. That is illegal, that is unconstitutional.”
My goodness, Dan. Governor Hogan is NOT negotiating anything with the WHO on the declaration of emergency powers. Your entire comment would be funny if it were not so egregious.
I’ve already written on this. We are not giving up ANY of our freedoms with the proposed revisions to the WHO Pandemic Response. We are in fact trying to hold countries like China more accountable. I would have thought the right wing of the party would be thrilled to hold China accountable in the future.
2. Dan says: “We were all told a lie, we gave them 2 weeks, it was a lie.” (speaking of the initial time frame of the lockdown).
Dan obviously does not remember what was at stake initially with the pandemic, nor does he understand the epidemiology, virology, etc. associated with pandemic management. We had no idea of how Sars-CoV-2 killed and harmed. On a global basis, HCW’s were trying to figure out what therapies might work, to understand how this virus affected the hematology system, the GI system, the lungs, the brain, the endocrine system, etc.
We had NO vaccine, NO therapeutics. We knew that we were flooding some of our medical systems with too many patients. We had shortages of ventilators, shortage of masks for HCW’s, shortages of numerous medical supplies. We were so close to breaking healthcare systems in various parts of the country. When hospitals cannot find beds, then there is a problem.
That’s why we had to do everything possible to break the cycle of transmission. And that takes longer than 2 weeks.
3. Dan says: “They banned dancing at weddings.”
Yes, Dan, makes sense if you just stop and think a bit. Dancing, close contact! Exercise, possible expulsion of more virus – any exercise will do that.
Dan, is this what you want? Spread of Covid at a wedding reception followed by Covid deaths of people that did not attend the wedding, but the wedding was a super spreader? “There have now been approximately 177 total cases associated with that wedding. The bulk of those cases now have been among people who did not attend the August 7 wedding itself. Sadly, the seven individuals who have passed away with COVID-19 - none of those individuals themselves attended the wedding. This is really emblematic of how quietly, quickly and aggressively COVID-19 can spread even across disparate geographies across a state.”
Nothing like inviting your friends and family to your wedding and everyone gets Covid and passes it on.
Frankly I want a governor who will protect us in the beginning of a pandemic.
4. Dan: “We will become a Marxist state. We are being used in Maryland as a prototype for what they want to do international, big pharma, and other corporations who have no care about our own individual liberties, none whatsoever.”
Sorry Dan, this is all conspiracy laden nonsense. Stop the bloody conspiracy thoughts.
5. Dan: “Crazy use of the pandemic to undermine the Trump presidency. We saw DeSantis take a different path, we saw Kristy Noam take a different path. We saw all republican governors west of the Mississippi take a different path. And their states had lower death rates and better recovery times. Our death rate in Maryland is much higher than Florida’s.”
Dan, you really blew this one. I could not find ONE reference that indicated that Florida saved more Covid lives.
A study was done with the following key take-aways:
--Republican governors were slower to adopt stay-at-home orders, if they did so at all.
--Democratic governors had longer durations of stay-at-home orders.
--Democratic governors was the most important indicator of state mandates to wear face masks.
--Sample included 26 Republican-led and 25-Democratic-led.
--From June 3, 2020, Republican led states had 1.10 x more cases per 100,000 than Democratic-led states, increasing from the 1.10 to 1.77 on June 28, and remaining positive through December 3.
--For deaths, Republican led states had higher death rates, starting July 4, 2020, increasing in August 2020 and remaining such through December 2020. (Figure below Per Capita Covid-19 death rates by governor affiliation. RR >1 indicate higher rates for Republican governors.)
--Decisions by Republican governors in spring 2020 to retract policies, such as the lifting of stay-at-home orders on April 28 in Georgia (for example) may have contributed to increased cases and deaths.
--Democratic states also had lower test positivity rates from May 30 to December 15, suggesting more rigorous containment strategies in response to the pandemic.
--Thus, governors’ political affiliation might function as an upstream progenitor of multifaceted policies that, in unison, impact the spread of the virus.
--Maryland was an exception in that the governor was Republican, yet Maryland fared better than Republican-led states. (My words: Yes, Governor Hogan and Kelly Schulz did that! They kept us safer from Covid cases and deaths!) https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.10.08.20209619v4.full.pdf
Another visual from a different report. Covid Death Rates once vaccine was available.
Notice, that Florida is a hot red – one of the worst states for deaths even after vaccines.

And will you just look at this?
Wow! The top 18 states for Death Rate were Republican run, with one state (Michigan) led by a democratic governor with a republican legislature confounding things.
Notice Florida is # 4 in top death rates at 183.27/100,000 since May 1, 2021!!!!!!! And Maryland is in 39th place with 88.99/100,000 deaths.
Governor Hogan did this! And Kelly Schulz knows how to prevent loss of life during a pandemic. Good for the Hogan Administration!

6. Then Dan tries to take a swipe at Dr. Jeff Woolford. “Her running mate is the Chief Medical officer who helped write and implement the policies that included the vaccination mandate. I will end on Day 1. 3500 nurses terminated.”
Dan, you have to prove the number of nurses terminated. How many total nurses do we have in Maryland? Reference please. (“Across the state, nearly 95% of hospital workers have received at least one dose, according to the hospital association. An additional 2% to 3% have been approved for medical or religious exemptions.” That doesn’t leave too many!)
I’ll gladly have a Medical Doctor as Lt. Governor with the threats of further pandemics. I would love for him to ensure that the State of Maryland is ready for the inevitable next pandemic. He knows how to do it. Dan Cox and his running mate could care less about getting us ready. They do not care for lives lost to Covid and the millions dealing with Long Covid. Lt. Governor Candidate Woolford knows how to protect life.
7. Dan says: “Truthfully!”
I’m just not buying anything you say. Just too many inaccuracies. You’ve cried “Wolf” way too many times.
