Juggernauts End Dream Season With a National Championship
MAW Champs go 7-0 at the 2021 United Wiffle Tournament
It’s hard to imagine the Juggernauts having imagine a better season for themselves over the winter.
Fresh off their first Mid Atlantic Wiffle Championship and becoming the first team to win the MAW Championship after winning the regular season championship, the Juggernauts won their first Wiffle Ball National Championship today at the 2021 United Wiffle National Championship Tournament in York, PA
The Juggernauts finished a dominant tournament run with a 7-0 record after defeating fellow MAW foes the New York Meats by a score of 9-0 in the championship game.
The Juggs went 3-0 in pool play on Saturday, defeating fellow automatic qualifiers the WILL Waves, MAW foes the Stompers, and the Fanway Vibe.
Sunday, they defeated the MLW All-Stars, MAW archrivals Wiff Inc (who play in MAW as ERL) in extra innings, and California’s Whippets WC on their way to the finals.
The Whippets were the only 2020 Final Four squad to make a return trip to the finals.
The squad outlasted 43 other squads at the second annual two-day tournament held at PeoplesBank Park in York, Pennsylvania.
Old Line Wiffle Club, captained by The Duckpin’s founder and publisher Brian Griffiths, went 0-3 for the second straight year. Rob Cataldi hit the first home run in franchise history, a grand slam against SETX Wiffle, in their second game.
The 2022 United Wiffle National Championship Tournament is currently planned for October 21-23, 2022 again at PeoplesBank Park.
