Juggernauts Endure Marathon Day to Capture Wiffle Bash
Extra-innings in semifinal and final didn't stop team from 2nd win of 2021
The Juggernauts went the distance on Saturday in Staten Island.
The club won their second Mid Atlantic Wiffle tournament of the season with a 2-0 win in nine-innings over the New York Meats at the annual Wiffle Bash.
The Juggernauts road to the Wiffle Bash title was a perilous one. After going 3-0 in preliminary play, the club had to beat the Stompers in the quarterfinals before surviving a 14-inning marathon against East Coast Elite in the semi-finals.
MAW knockout round games are scheduled for six-innings.
With their win, the Juggernauts retake possession of the coveted orange MAW belt heading into the MAW Playoffs September 11th in York, Pennsylvania. They join the New York Meats, ERL, East Coast Elite, and Voodoo as automatic qualifiers for the playoffs.
Prior to the championship tournament, the MAW Wild Card Tournament will be held September 4th. Three teams will advance from that tournament to join those five teams in the playoff to win permanent possession of the orange belt and the MAW 2021 Championship.
