Kim Klacik Picks Fight With Fellow WBAL Personality
WBAL knew what they were getting when they hired Klacik. A classic frog and the scorpion tale
Nobody has ever accused Kim Klacik of being polite or self-aware. But she took it to a new level on Twitter yesterday.
Klacik, who was inexplicably hired by WBAL to do four hours on the radio every day last year, was off of work yesterday to travel to Toledo, Ohio to speak at a county Lincoln Day Dinner.
Longtime WBAL Reporter Rob Lang, being the professional that he is, tweeted about what was coming up on WBAL that afternoon. Tom Coale was filling in for Klacik.
Klacik, inexplicably, took offense to this.
What bias can =there possibly be from a reporter promoting a show on his network? Who knows, but Kim Klacik lives in her own little world of privilege and entitlement.
So Kim Klacik has inexplicably gone after not just a co-worker at WBAL, but also the entire radio station with her “Thanks @WBALRadio” comment.
There is no justification for this, at all. Why does Klacik feel it necessary to do this? Why does she especially feel the need to do this in public, so the sycophantic band of followers can pile on? (They didn’t).
All this sounds like is a prima donna mad that the person filling in for her got his show promoted to encourage people to listen.
The irony of course is that the replacement, Tom Coale, is probably more qualified for the job than Klacik is. While Coale wouldn't have been my first choice based on her policy differences, at least he is conversant about state and local issues. That’s more than I can say about Klacik, who got her job primarily from being a Twitter celebrity.
And that’s the problem with WBAL’s lineup these days. The news division is, as always, top-notch. Bryan Nehman and C4 do a good job in the morning. And then there’s a wasteland between 10 am and the start of the Orioles game every day. WBAL used to be must-listen radio when it was Chip Franklinor Rob Douglas and of course, the legend himself Ron Smith. But, honestly, WBAL hasn't been the same since Smith passed from cancer over a decade ago.
Instead of being interesting and intriguing talk radio, the station is just a way station for failed political candidates. Jerry Rogers does 7-10, but for whatever reason, he’s still stuck there. Andrew Langer did a great job on Saturday mornings, but they kicked him to the curb for some reason or another. There was an entire network of podcasters (hint) who were beyond qualified for the job. And yet, we get self-center egomaniacs like Kim Klacik.
This is the classic case of the frog and the scorpion. And Klacik’s the scorpion. Nobody should be surprised by Klacik’s stupid actions. She is who we thought she was.
Do you remember that Chip Franklin was a libertarian then? Neither does he.
