Dan Cox and his Campaign would have you believe that Maryland under Governor Larry Hogan) comes in last with regard to the pandemic response. What the campaign has NOT indicated to us is that their Wall Street Journal “study” was done by far-right economists (who either worked or advised Trump). That study also was reviewed by a doctor within the Great Barrington Declaration group, who would have had all of us rely on herd immunity through infection to achieve our goal with Covid. No reputable healthcare worker or student of public health would ever suggest we “rely” on herd immunity by contracting the disease for such a devasting disease as Covid. We have seen that herd immunity through infection certainly did not work and is not likely to work with Covid.
This just came from CDC data.
I’ve taken the liberty of marking both Maryland and Florida, just for grins and giggles.
Maryland is ninth (9th) of all states with low Covid Death Rate per Million!!!!!!
I’m not certain that the WSJ “study” provided for QALY (Quality Adjusted Life Year) or any other measure of the value of life (i.e. Value of Life). While Europe and other modern countries might use a value, we generally do not in the US (as of my understanding of the topic). I’m going no further into the weeds here, other than to say the US values every life lost to Covid and we value those lives of the folks who are dealing with Long Covid.
And Governor Hogan saved many valuable lives. Rob DeSantis – not so much.
