The Maryland Young Republicans abruptly postponed their 2022 Convention this afternoon in an email sent by the organization:
It has been decided by the Executive Board that the Maryland Young Republican Convention, originally scheduled for July 23, 2022, will be postponed to a later date. To be frank, we have read the room and understand that all of the focus and energy of the YRs right now are being devoted to the many wonderful candidates running in this state. As a Chairman, I could not be prouder of the level of dedication that we are seeing from both our chapters and individual members. Recognizing that we want to ensure our members can focus on getting Republicans elected, and not to take the focus off these important races, it was decided that we should postpone the convention until after the red wave comes to Maryland in November.
The Maryland Young Republicans have seemed practically dormant over the last year, with most activity promoted by the group on social media happening at the local level or by individual members. The group has only promoted four events over the course of the last year, each of them held in a bar.
