My 2 cents: Down here in the Gunshine State, Rubio & Scott are seen as having a RINO problem, especially by the 2A community as to Red Flag laws. Desantis, especially if he signs the bill allowing carrying in church, may avoid that stigma. He's gotta walk that line between the Trump zealots and the Never Trump Republicans. His handling of covid, while keeping much of the state open and still avoiding massive deaths, may help him. Conservatives want to keep him as Governor, though, avoiding the position going to a Rino or one of the Democrat challengers.

One more penny: I think Desantis' opposition to Critical Race Theory helps him, unlike the Governor of Washington state, who is embracing it.
