The New York Meats bested league-leading ERL in the finals of the Mid Atlantic Wiffle Wiffs and Waves tournament on Saturday.


The Meats took a 1-0 lead on a wild pitch by ERL starter Mike Stiles in the 1st inning and held it the whole way beautiful Showell Park in Berlin, Maryland.
Vin Lea threw a complete game shutout for the Meats.
Both teams went 2-1 in pool play prior to the knockout round, with both teams no-hitting Maryland based Old Line Wiffle Club (captained by The Duckpin’s founder and editor Brian Griffiths)

The Meats entered the playoffs as the #6 seed, knocking off the #3 York Yaks in the first round and the 7th-seeded Shortballs in the semifinals.
4th-seeded ERL won a revenge game against the WILL Waves (who defeated ERL in the last pool play game) and the top seeded Longballs in the semis before going on to defeat ERL.
With their win, the Meats take possession of the coveted orange MAW belt and punch their ticket to the MAW Playoffs September 11th in York, Pennsylvania. They join ERL (winners of the last two tournaments) and East Coast Elite as automatic qualifiers for the playoffs.
