Sources Indicate Moheyeldien Planning to Run for Anne Arundel County Executive

Packing Company CEO would be fifth candidate in the race

Sources tell The Duckpin that packaging executive Marwan Moheyeldien is planning on entering the Republican primary for Anne Arundel County Executive.

Moheyeldien is the owner, co-founder, and CEO of Maryland Packaging, a food-service packaging company based in Elkridge and Halethorpe. His LinkedIn page lists his title as “Chief Visionary Officer.” The company has been involved during the pandemic with the packaging of food to benefit the Maryland Food Bank.

The below video, produced by Maryland Packaging, describes the history of the business.

Mohyeledien is a resident of Annapolis, though he is a recent transplant to the county. Campaign finance records show that Mohyeledien was a resident of McLean, Virginia when he made a $6,000 contribution to the Maryland State Republican Party. Though he listed a Virginia address on his campaign contribution, voting records list that he registered to vote in Maryland in January of 2017. He has only voted in one election in Maryland, the 2020 General Election.

These sources tell The Duckpin that Mac Love has been making calls on Moheyeldien’s behalf.

Moheyeldien would be the fifth Republican in the race for Anne ArundelCounty Executive, joining announced candidates Chris Jahn and former Delegate Herb McMillan, and presumed candidates County Councilwoman Jessica Haire and Delegate Sid Saab.
