Montgomery County GOP Stumping for Franchot?
Continued Missteps Show Need for a Change in Direction for this County Party
The Montgomery County Republican Central Committee is promoting Peter Franchot in their latest weekly newsletter.
In the newsletter, the Central Committee promotes Governor Hogan’s gas-tax holiday bill by using a graphic from the office of Comptroller Peter Franchot.
The graphic was that “Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot Announces a 30-Day Gas Tax Holiday”.
Of course, Peter Franchot had nothing to do with the gas tax holiday. That was a bill from the Hogan Administration passed with bipartisan support. Peter Franchot has nothing to do with the gas tax holiday except enforce the law proposed and signed by Larry Hogan.
This of course is just the latest in a series of Montgomery County Republican Party missives that are completely off the mark, including a focus on national issues at a time of redistricting reform and promotion of fringe candidate Michael Peroutka’s candidacy for Attorney General.
Combine this with Chairman Sully Reardon’s past support of Democrats and attempts to allow Central Committee members to donate to Democrats, perhaps this tacit support for Franchot should not be a surprise.
It’s clear that Montgomery County GOP Chairman Sully Reardon either is completely incompetent or is actively promoting Democrats in his role as Chairman. He needs to be removed from his Chairmanship and possibly removed from the Central Committee for his actions.
