Moore Raises Far More Out of State Money than Cox
Wes Moore's campaign is continuing the trend of Maryland Democrats relying on out of state funds to get elected
Wes Moore raised more money from out of state than Dan Cox in the most recent campaign finance reports.
Moore/Miller received 2,407 donations from outside of Maryland and 4,672 from within Maryland in the campaign finance reports due earlier this week. Cox/Schifanelli, received only 223 from out of state compared to 767 donations from inside Maryland
.The difference is starker regarding the number of dollars raised from outside of Maryland. Moore/Miller received over 41% of their total receipts from outside the state, while Cox/Schifanelli raised less than 10% of their total dollars from outside Maryland
.These finance reports confirm the trend in recent years that Maryland Democrats have become reliant on donors outside of Maryland to fund their statewide campaigns. Something we saw at its most egregious with the Ben Jealous campaign in 2018.
The wildest number of all is the fact that the Moore/Miller ticket raised nearly five times as much from out-of-state donors during the campaign finance period than Cox and Schifanelli raised in total.
Moore Raises Far More Out of State Money than Cox
This article would imply that Cox has more support from Marylanders because it neglects the fact Moore exceeded Cox in contributions from Marylanders both in amount and number of contributions. The fact is Moore has appeal to BOTH Marylanders and has national appeal is good for Maryland.
