Nicole Beus Harris Running for Maryland GOP Chair
Wife of Congressman Andy Harris is the second announced candidate
Nicole Beus Harris, wife of Congressman Andy Harris, is running for Maryland Republican Party Chair.
A political consultant, Harris sent this letter to Central Committee members late this evening:
The 2022 elections are behind us and while we were hoping for a red wave, we ended up with a red trickle and we all need to learn from it. As a Republican Central Committee member, I know you’re concerned with the direction of our country and state. Thank you for not only being concerned but stepping up and getting involved in the process to right the ship.
I also stepped up for the cause and am running for Chair of the Maryland Republican Party by having filed my paperwork before last night’s deadline. I’ve been heavily involved in Maryland campaigns since the 2012 cycle, and that’s everything from handling social media to fundraising to recruiting candidates to being a campaign manager and consultant. I’ve knocked on thousands of doors, phone banked, sign waved, led events, designed literature, written copy, and helped produce ads. I’ve worked the trenches for the last decade-plus, in addition to having watched the party for a little over two decades, so I understand how it’s worked, and how it’s failed, and have a whole list of ideas for change. My biggest idea is a complete rebranding of the MDGOP. For too long we have allowed others to define who we are and what we stand for – we’ve played defense to false narratives and that will change. I believe that Maryland can be an example for all other states regarding what Republicans bring to the table and how America will be better for it. Our biggest challenges – TIME and MONEY!
We have a lot of administrative procedures to put into place quickly with weekly, monthly, and quarterly goals to reach within the party. We will need accurate metrics to track our progress. We need to have good, solid training for RCC members and potential candidates. Furthermore, we need to start training and recruiting fundraisers, treasurers, and campaign managers to build our resources for future cycles. These are some of the items and procedures that have been lacking and they are fundamental pieces to the future of our party and success. While we work on all our administrative processes, we need to be fundraising simultaneously. Having been involved in all aspects of campaigns, local, state, and federal races – I have the ability to reach out to donors and show them our new path forward and ask them to invest in the future of the MDGOP. With these basics in place quickly, we will start a new marketing campaign before the 2024 Presidential and Congressional elections are in full operation.
I look forward to talking to you in the next few weeks and hearing your ideas, your frustrations, and your hopes for the Maryland Republican Party. I want to inspire all RCC members to open communication up within your county and the state and help move the party into a proactive mode of operation. I further want to encourage everyone to actively engage with the local community with direct and targeted messaging and service. We can make Maryland great and conservative, but it will take every one of us!
I hope that you will join me in the conversation. While I will be making calls and hope to reach you soon, if you have any questions or feedback – please feel free to email me at GOPNicole@gmail.com or call/text [redacted].
Together we win!
Nicole Beus Harris
Candidate for Chair of the Maryland Republican Party
