Peroutka's Wild Bar Association Interview
Peroutka Gonna Peroutka in a Tour De Force of Warped Christian Reconstructionism
Josh Kurtz in Maryland Matters linked to a Maryland Bar Association interview with successionist Michael Peroutka, who is running for Attorney General.
I generally don’t have a high opinion of the Maryland Bar Association, but this interview is wild.
Some of the highlights of the interview include:
Peroutka refusing to disavow the League of the South;
Peroutka’s sadness that Maryland did not have the opportunity to secede from the Union in 1861;
That Maryland is still an independent country that just happens to be part of the United States;
How he compares forcing a state to stay in the United States to forcing a person to stay in an abusive relationship;
That Governor Larry Hogan’s administration over the last two years has been “lawlessness”;
Unfamiliarity with the secession efforts of three western counties to bolt to West Virginia.
How public education has incorporated the Communist Manifesto into public schools.
And much of that is from a five-minute snippet of a fifty-five-minute, wide-ranging interview with Peroutka. It’s a tour-de-force of Peroutka’s warped view on constitutional government and his Christian deconstructionist views.
Peroutka also referred to his legal practice as “Creditors Rights”, protecting the rights of those who have loaned money. It’s unclear what Peroutka thinks about the Bible’s passages on usury.
Towards the end, there’s a discussion between Peroutka and former State Senator Bobby Zirkin about Biblical authority, which almost certainly has never come up in a Bar Association interview before. Nor has anybody called the evolution of law “Darwinian”, as Peroutka did.
Either way, if you want to understand Peroutka and why Peroutka is so dangerous as a candidate, it’s worth your time
Peroutka's Wild Bar Association Interview
Just a few question for the author: Zirkin states hus pride for his same-sex marriage vote and his Rabbi was extremely happy he did this as well...on that note, what does the Old Testament of the Bible or Torah say about same-sex marriage?
What was the War Between The States about? What was the 1st State invaded?
Why is Maryland's Constitution so robust?
What is the relationship of the U.S. Constitution between The People and their government?
Some things to ponder.
Is our Constitution taught in Law Schools or is it legal evolutionary theory (aka Darwinsim of Law)...meaning that laws evolve w/ society and are not a fixed standard?
Secessionist not successionist
