St. Mary's State's Attorney's Office Altered Facebook Posts
Richard Fritz has whitewashed the work of his opponent, Jaymi Sterling, from his Office's Facebook Page
“An attorney is marked by his or her word. Once you lose that, they will turn their back on you.”- St. Mary’s County State’s Attorney Richard Fritz
Embattled St. Mary’s County State’s Attorney Richard Fritz is running for re-election despite being labeled as America’s Most Unelectable elected official. His opponent in the Republican primary is Jaymi Sterling, his former Deputy. However, Fritz’s office has been trying to whitewash Sterling from the agency’s public record.
An investigation by The Duckpin has shown that fourteen posts by the St. Mary’s State’s Attorney’s Office Facebook page were altered, some years after originally posted, to eliminate references or photographs of Sterling. This is the official page of the Office of the State’s Attorney, not any campaign page created by Fritz or his campaign.
Here’s one example.

Exhibit #1B (Original Version)
In this example, the State’s Attorney’s Office went back over two years to remove pictures of Sterling and Sterling’s name from the Facebook post.
There are thirteen such additional examples, below.
What’s odd about all of this is that Fritz’s campaign is focusing on issues such as….leadership and integrity. It’s hard to argue that Frtiz is operating his office with integrity when he is using St. Mary’s County government time and resources for crassly partisan purposes.
(As a sidebar, this above ad is very weird)
(yet not as weird as this one)
Either way, it is highly inappropriate for a State’s Attorney to go back and rewrite history in the way that Fritz is attempting to deceive voters. Voters in St. Mary’s County deserve better than this.
