Finally got our hands on a bottle of Coca-Cola’s newest flavor of Coke Zero, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar Starlight.
So, this is how Coke’s website describes the drink:
You hold the celestial power of the universe in your hand. Discover what it is like to drink Starlight, on Earth for a brief encounter. Infinite possibilities are yours when the ever-cool, indulgent flavor of space hits the #RealMagic of our great Coca‑Cola taste.
Starlight’s red hue sparkles with a cooling sensation that has been transformed by the magic of space. Transport yourself to a new galaxy with each sip. Discover the sensation before it’s gone.
Once you get past the corporate-speak you land on the fact that the drink is supposed to taste like outer space and that space is supposed to taste like raspberries.
So what does it actually taste like?
Well the first taste I got was not that it was a Coke, but that it was a Pepsi. It had that sickening sweet mouthfeel of a full-sugar Pepsi. But beyond that, it doesn’t taste like raspberries. It tastes more like cotton candy like something Faygo would produce.
The one thing I can confirm is that the “sparkles with a cooling sensation” are obvious. My wife, who likes the soda, likened it to the sensation of Pop Rocks and I can’t disagree.
As for me, I finished that bottle but I don’t need to ever drink it again. I’d rather them sell Mezzo Mix in the US.
If it’s not available near you but you want to try it, you can get it from Amazon and (like all the links here) we’ll get a little part of your sale as an Amazon Affiliate.
Going to try this.
