The DGA Aren't the Only Democrats Dan Cox Loves
Why does Dan Cox like the Baltimore Banner so much?
Dan Cox has gone out of his way to be adversarial toward the media. As I wrote last week:
Cox has now bailed out of the Chamber of Commerce interview, he bailed out of the Maryland Municipal League forum, he refused to appear on MPT, he refused to complete the Baltimore Sun candidate questionnaire, and he refused to answer Maryland Matters question about his first 100 days. Seems like the only media that Cox has done was an interview on Channel 45 where Cox seems completely disconnected from reality, mispronounces the name of the Baltimore City State’s Attorney and seemingly comes out for the legalization of pot.
While Cox did eventually appear on MPT,
Which is why it was very surprising to see that Dan Cox sat down for an extensive interview for The Baltimore Banner for a profile. And yet, it wasn’t either because the Banner was the only media outlet that was allowed to attend and report on his rally this past Saturday. Other media outlets, including allegedly The Duckpin, were banned from attending.
Now, what do you remember about The Baltimore Banner? It’s a start-up “non-profit” newspaper associated with Democratic operatives with a far left bias. So why is Cox cozying up to a radical left-wing “news” operation associated with connected Democrats weeks before the Republican primary?
For the same reason that this is happening.

The Baltimore Banner’s Democratic associations, the Democratic Governor’s Association, and Dan Cox all have a common interest in Dan Cox winning the Republican nomination on July 19th. Cox for obvious reasons. But Democrats know that whoever is the Democratic nominee will wipe the floor with Cox in the general election.
It’s a sickly cynical move by Cox. He rails against the Democrats and the liberal media, then plans to use the Democratic establishment to try and propel himself to the Republican nomination. All in service to his ego.
It will be important for Republican voters to keep an eye on just how Cozy Cox gets with these Democratic establishment organs in the last days before the primary.
Not that we even wanted to.
