The Monday Thought
As I write this I’m drinking a beer1, watching night descend over the Atlantic Ocean.2 Since I am on vacation this is not going to be the coherent piece that I usually write on a Monday. Just a few things that make me wonder and strike my fancy.
Why does every rental property in the country have forty useless decorative pillows?
Have you ever listened closely to the Passion of our Lord on either Palm Sunday or Easter? We are all one of the two criminals on the crosses next to Jesus. Everybody is either the criminal who mocks Jesus and only wants something from Him and the criminal who aknowledges his guilt and asks Jesus to remember him when He comes into His kingdom. The question you have to ask yourself is; which one are you?
I will always hate the National League having the designated hitter rule.
I have written nothing about Will Smith and his sage, but I have a feeling that a lot of people are jealous that Smith does not have to attend the Oscars for the next ten years. He might be the luckiest guy in Hollywood.
The ESPYs will still take him I bet.
The USFL is relaunching this weekend after last playing a game in 1985. The league folded because the owner of the New Jersey Generals wanted to move the league from a spring league to a fall league. That guy is pretty much singlehandedly responsible for the USFL going out of business. That owners name? Donald Trump.
I really don’t enjoy writing about Dan Cox and Gordana Schifanelli as much as I am. But the two candidates are just so hypocritical, so bad, and so incompetent and both governing and campaigning that their fecklessness must be written about.
In that vein, this will never not be funny when you consider Schifanelli went from posing for pictures with Kelly Schulz to practically declaring here the Antichrist in about four months.
I again reiterate the the General Assembly session could be completed in 30 days instead of 90.
France is practically no longer in need of runoff elections for President if the candidate of the National Front is going to finish second every time.
That being said, this is the third time in five elections that the National Front candidate has advanced to the runoff. Jean-Marie Le Pen received a mere 18% in 2002. His daughter, Marine Le Pen, received 33% in 2017. It will be interesting to see if the NF’s percentage of the vote rises again this year. Either way, it shows a long-term rise of nationalism and French-style fascism over the course of 20 years.
I won’t have an opinion on the left-field wall at Camden Yards until I see it in action for a few games.
The world will be a better place with people focused more on state and local politics.
Every resort town has that one chain that has fifteen-odd some locations in a short stretch of land. I have no idea how their profit model for that works.
Slower resort towns are better than busy ones.
The problem with grab bag columns is that you never know where to end them.
A Fullsteaam Rocket Science IPA, for those who care about such things
I hope you didn’t think I was waking up at 4 am to write these things…..
Marine Le Pen is not fascist. Macron has exhibited far more fascist tendencies than her politics seem to indicate.
