The Monday Thought
Many have been comparing themselves to Virginia’s new Governor, Glenn Youngkin. For some reason, many of the supporters of Dan Cox seem to think that he is Maryland’s answer to Youngkin. Sadly they are severely mistaken. No, the Virginian most reminiscent of Dan Cox is actually Amanda Chase.
Amanda Chase is a Virginia State Senator who ran for Governor last year. You may remember her:
State Senator Amanda Chase, the Trumpiest candidate for Governor in the field, filed suit against the RPV trying to stop a convention and spun a weird conspiracy theory that the party itself was going to choose the nominee. Chase this morning said the convention was illegal and is threatening to run as an independent if the Central Committee chooses the nominee.
The thinking is that a convention hurts Trumpy candidates like Chase by putting the decision into the hands of active Republicans instead of Republican primary voters.
Virginia did, ultimately, have a convention. Chase finished a distant third behind now Governor Youngkin and Pete Snyder.
ox supporters can’t understand that former Secretary Kelly Schulz has more in common with Governor Youngkin have more in common than Dan Cox and Gov. Youngkin. Gov. Youngkin a businessman; Dan Cox is a less charming Robin Ficker (who, remember, has more cash on hand than Cox).
Why would Marylanders vote for Dan Cox?
Is Dan Cox able to raise the money he’d need to beat a well-funded Democrat? No, especially given the large gap between Cox’s 2022 annual report and Kelly Schulz’s number. With Cox unable to raise money during session, that gap will only grow. Six Democratic candidates raised more money than he did during the first report and a seventh is taking public financing.
Is Dan Cox likable? No. It’s not a coincidence that none of his House colleagues have endorsed him.
Maryland Republicans have a choice in the primary; Dan Cox or trying to actually win. The choice is clear.
The Runback: Maryland's Amanda Chase
You are underestimating the Will of the People. Many of us have never given so much to any political candidate as we are giving to Dan Cox and Gordana Schifanelli. The everyday people of Maryland are sick and tired of the Establishment picking our candidates, making promises they have no intention of keeping, and continuing to lose. The Establishment's scheme of pushing women to appeal to women is identity politics and genuine Conservatives are NOT falling for it. BTW, that is a Leftist Progressive tactic. If you haven't noticed LameDuck, your stances have become archaic thinking of a vanishing RINO tarpit. Your old ways will soon be extinct. This grassroots groundswell happening across the Great United States of America is what this movement is about. Your pathetic attempts to tarnish it here, well, will more that 3 people even see this? #EnoughIsEnough #CoxForFreedom #UniPartyNoMore
