The Constitutional Amendment that would foolishly add the Right to Abortion to Maryland’s Declaration of Rights has already passed the Maryland House of Delegates. It now goes over to the Senate, where a companion piece has not yet been voted on but will likely also be adopted.
This means that the people of Maryland, in the fall of 2024, will have the opportunity to vote on whether or not we should add this heinous amendment to the Declaration of Rights in our Constitution.
So the question now is: who leads the charge against this ridiculous amendment to our Constitution? That, more than anything else, is what is facing the pro-life movement right now.
The odds of defeating, or even put a dent in the support of the amendment, are high. The Death Cult will be out in full force to support the amendment. The organizers of such an effort would be facing a coalition that includes the President of the United States, the Governor of Maryland, the Attorney General of Maryland, the Comptroller of Maryland, two U.S. Senators, seven members of Congress, every Union in the state, the Maryland Democratic Party, the Democratic Socialists of America, The Baltimore Sun, The Baltimore Banner, and scores of other left-wing interest groups.
But that does not mean that pro-life voters should sit this one out, far from it. The truth about abortion should not be shied away from as the Death Cult tries to do. It should be front and center.
As His Excellency, The Most Reverend William Lori, Archbishop of Baltimore recently wrote:
Violence against the unborn and violence against the chronically and terminally ill are indeed manifestations of the culture of death – the cheapening of human life. Is it any wonder that we see carnage on our streets – more than 700 killed on the streets of Baltimore in the last two years? Were those 700 persons or things?
A March for Life is not enough. A rally is not enough. Letters are not enough. It is our duty to fight for the soul and hearts and minds of our neighbors. We must Cry the Gospel to our neighbors, our family, our friends, and random strangers that it is incumbent for our souls to reject the temptations of Satan, to show that life is precious, and protect the sanctity of life from conception until natural born death.
The only way to stop abortion extremism is to prepare for victory at the ballot box. To do that, we must be prepared to lead a charge to defeat this Amendment and to score a victory for the unborn. The time to prepare is now. Who leads the charge and who makes sure we are prepared is the most important question that must be answered in the short term. Because without an organized effort to stop it, the madness will continue.
