Vote NO on Question 5: This patchwork reform of the Orphans’ Court system makes no sense. Voters should oppose continuing this bizarre reform of the Courts one county at a time.
Vote YES on Question 2: It shouldn't take a Constitutional Amendment to require General Assembly members to live in their district. But it does and we should support that.

But these flashes of defiance were fleeting. Mere days later, when Democrats moved to impeach Trump for inciting the riot, Republicans balked. Both McCarthy and McConnell voted against impeachment, and Pence, whose aides had steamed about Trump while in hiding, barred his staff from testifying at Trump’s second trial. In the months since, GOP leaders have done their utmost to bury the truth of what happened that day—leaving Republican voters with the distinct impression that Trump and his followers did nothing wrong. The Monday Thought
You get a threefer today: three separate topics not long enough to merit a full article, but also timely enough to be relevant.
Stale Debate Thoughts
Like a lot of you, I did not watch the entirety of the debate between Dan Cox and Wes Moore because, frankly, I have a life. It would have been more interesting had the other candidates been allowed to participate as I suggested they should. Their presence on the stage in Arizona may actually tip the race.
The debate really didn’t really help Dan Cox all that much. The people who were never going to vote for Dan Cox are still never going to vote for him. Most of the people who were going to vote for him are still going to vote for him. I say most because the fringe of the fringe of the fringe of the Republican Party. I mean, look at nonsense like this.
While I understand that people who believe Larry Hogan should “be behind bars” and that really think “Marylanders, and Dan Cox supporters who have suffered under Hogan must surely feel betrayed” are not serious people, Dan Cox voters are a fickle bunch. They’ve changed their position for less.1
The abortion debate was absolutely pointless and helped neither candidate. Wes Moore is a radical extremist on aborton. Dan Cox could barely put sentences together defending his position.
“Constitutional expert” Dan Cox talking about how he would “sign a Constitutional Amendment” is adorable considering that’s not how it works.
If the Cox campaign were smart, they would focus on Moore’s non-answer on how there is “nothing in [my] plan about raising taxes” and contrast that with his spending plan.
The entire bickering over the rules in the last two minutes of the debate showed us how neither man has the maturity to serve as Governor.
Do You Want Wes Moore to Win? Because This is How You Get Wes Moore
Though the Maryland Voter Integrity Group said the plan “will restore confidence and encourage transparency for all Maryland voters,” the steps outlined in the memo appear to be an audit or recount — something state law already provides for under specific circumstances — organized independently in this case, rather than through certified officials.
Great work everybody. Can’t think of a better way to make sure Dan Cox voters don’t turn out than to question the validity of the election process. This is exactly how Democrats took control of the Senate; Donald Trump questioned the integrity of the elections, Republicans stay home, and Democrats won.
That Gordana Schifanelli was part of their event just associates the entire operation with the Cox campaign. And there is no better way to show that a group is operating on the up-and-up in the voter integrity department than affiliating with a candidate.
With a 2-to-1 registration advantage, Democrats didn’t need any more help in Maryland elections. And yet Cox supporters do stuff like that.
Meanwhile, An Important Front On the Culture Wars
This is an important statistic worth sharing.
Democrats are on the wrong side of this issue. And they are on the right side of the voting public at least insofar as it relates to elementary school students go. When you consider what the Democrats have been pushing recently as it relates to “Unity Days”, “transgender” acceptance, and the like, it would be interesting to see what a competitive candidate could do with this information, especially in light of the recent Anne Arundel County news on the subject.
Why you would take advice from a bullshit artist who decamped to Florida instead of staying to try and make Maryland better is a better question. It is why, in a rare decision of the sort, I won’t link to the source Nobody needs to be exposed to that sort of trash at 6 AM on a Monday.
The entire subject of this question is rhetorical. If they cared about winning, Cox would not have been nominated.
