Why are you running for office? *
Because of term limits I cannot run for Commissioner again. I would still like to work for the people of Carroll County and the state of Maryland.
Who do you consider your political role model, and why? *
John Kennedy, he looked for the best solution to a problem regardless of which party it came from.
What is your favorite book about politics and policy, and why? *
Democracy in America, written over 200 years ago it explains how and why Americans react to what happens around them. Still relevant today.
What will be your top priority in office? *
To work with other Delegates to find the best solutions for the people of Maryland.
What is the biggest issue facing your area? *
Water development, Carroll County needs more available water to continue to progress.
What are the three biggest issues facing Maryland? *
Helping business get back up and running with the continuing virus. Restoring the bay. How to pay for a world class education.
What is your position on life issues? (abortion, assisted suicide) *
I believe people have the right to decide life issues for themselves as long as their decisions do not endanger the community.
What is your position on taxes and spending? *
Determine the level of services the community needs/wants and set taxes to pay for them.
What is your position on gun rights? *
I believe everyone has the right to a handgun for personal protection and a long gun for hunting. No private citizens should have automatic weapons.
What is your position on the legalization of marijuana? *
It is needed.
What is your position on the current three-tiered system for the sale and distribution of alcohol? *
I believe the current system is working.
What is your position on land use, growth, and development? *
Land use must be balanced between development and agriculture. Development should be centralized and environmental impact must be considered.
What is your position on crime and public safety? *
Without public safety you have nothing. But that does not mean safety at the expense of individual rights and freedom.
What is your position on county tax caps? *
For candidates for the General Assembly: Legislators can receive $101 per day for lodging and $47 per day for meals during the 90-day General Assembly session. If elected, do you plan to accept these benefits? Why or why not?
Yes, if I have to stay in Annapolis to work as a delegate I should not have to pay out of pocket to eat and sleep there.
