President Donald Trump often has displayed the worst political instincts. He almost always defaults to his left-wing Democratic positions as opposed the conservative, Republican positions his most loyal followers think he has.
However, his speech last night on the stimulus bill is very on point.
(The bit at the end where he wanders back into his fantasy world where he might win was unnecessary and a reminder as to just how bad of a President he is, but with Trump you take what you can get)
President Trump is right. The Stimulus bill passed by Congress is a nonsense bill, a Christmas Tree to which special interest groups attached all sorts of ridiculous priorities.
While I disagree with Trump’s assessment that the solution is to hand out even more money to individuals, it was a useful thing to highlight all of the nonsense that was stuffed into the casing of the COVID relief bill. This, truthfully, might be the most long-lasting and important speech of his Presidency.
