Trump States The Obvious
Why is Trump's Greatest Accomplishment viewed by his supporters with such disdain?
If you had to ask me what I consider to be former President Trump’s greatest accomplishment, it would have to be Operation Warp Speed, also known as the program that fast-tracked a safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine that allowed us to combat this virus. Last week was the one-year anniversary of COVID-19 vaccines being administered outside of clinical trials. Despite the fact that this vaccine was developed under a Republican Administration and financed under a Republican economy, hesitancy, and in some cases downright disdain for it, remain high in the GOP.
I could go on and on about why it’s important to encourage vaccinations, and I already did that in an earlier article which I will summarize here: COVID-19 vaccines are a good thing, every Republican running should encourage their constituents and voters to receive the vaccine, unconstitutional mandates on businesses are bad, and we have no need to go back to masks or lockdowns thanks to the three safe and effective vaccines.
Back to what this article is about. During an interview with Bill O’Reilly, the former president made public that he received his COVID-19 booster shot, which sadly drew boos from the audience which Trump quickly shut down and pointed out how small the mouthy minority in the crowd was. Trump specifically said: "Look, we did something that was historic, we saved tens of millions of lives worldwide when we, together, all of us, we got a vaccine done…This was going to ravage the country far beyond what it is right now, take credit for it... it's great, what we've done is historic. Don't let them take it away…You're playing right into their hands when you doubt the vaccine.”
That could not be more true. In the leadup to the vaccine rollout, Trump was ridiculed by Democrats and the media for attempting to do the impossible and later succeeding at it. The fact that Operation Warp Speed was able to fast-track three vaccines in a few months should be a talking point for all Republican candidates when rallying the base. Choosing hesitancy only plays into the hands of those who originally doubted this vaccine, and who fought against lifting mask mandates and other pandemic restrictions as Republicans were working towards a return to normalcy. I hate to use this term but Trump essentially owned the libs by fast-tracking this vaccine, and now we have the opportunity to push back against their radical agenda on the campaign trail and at the ballot box in 2022 in pre-pandemic fashion.
Do I think President Trump should have done more during his time in office to encourage the vaccine? Yes. Am I aware of the fact that since then he has a limited presence on social media? Yes. Is the above statement better than the doom and gloom about dark winters and overcrowded hospitals coming from the Biden Administration? Yes. Do I think statements like this from the former Commander in Chief could persuade the hesitant to reconsider and get their COVID-19 vaccine? Absolutely.
In short, the COVID-19 vaccine is the easiest way to prevent serious illness or death from the virus. Yes, breakthrough cases are a thing, even for those who have been vaccinated and boosted (I’m looking at everyone making snarky comments about Governor Larry Hogan’s COVID-19 case), but you’ll be a lot better off with the vaccine in your system than without it.
As the weather gets colder and new variants come about, the easiest thing you can do to protect yourself and your family is to get vaccinated or boosted if you have not already.
Maybe people think Trump is garbage because the non-vaccine injections are KILLING SO MANY PEOPLE! - Update 👉 As of December 17, 2021, 22,201 ☠deaths 🚨 and 113,878 emergency room entries — a subset of 1,014,125 total adverse events — had been reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) following COVID-19 vaccinations. The numbers reflect reports filed between Dec. 14, 2020 and December 17, 2021.

A great and informed article Melissa. You're a way better columnist than Barb, who is stuck in March 2020.
