The Monday Thought
Politics, on both sides of the aisle, are under siege. We are not under siege from foreign invaders, we are no under siege from cyber attackers. We are under siege from the ignorant.
Both Republicans and Democrats are under siege from people who cannot accept basic facts into their world view or allow any information except from their own trusted sources.
Both parties are under siege from people who reject information from legitimate sources and instead would rather trust a member they found on Freedom Eagle dot Facebook.
Too many Democrats refuse to accept that Hillary Clinton legitimately lost the 2016 Election. Too many Democrats fail to acknowledge that their side of the aisle is full of politically motivated violence. Too many Democrats refuse to accept that conservatism is not fascism. For over a decade, the Left has called everything they don’t like fascist and were completely shocked that when creeping fascism did arrive that people did not take it seriously.
Too many Democrats refuse to accept that Donald Trump legitimately lost the 2020 Election. Too many Republicans refuse to accept that January 6th, 2021 was at best an insurrection and in reality an attempted coup d’etat. Too many on the right want America to retreat into its shell completely unaware of the fact that such insularity is what caused the Depression and ultimately World War II. And too many Republicans believe that everything is a conspiracy and that everybody really is out to get them.
It’s like this everywhere. Maryland is no better.
It’s all so predictable. Cox supporters the Coxwombles will lose on July 19th. After their loss, they will act like children. They will not vote in the November general election because they would rather have a Democrat elected Governor than Kelly Schulz. Then if for some reason a Democrat is elected, they will blame everybody else for their loss.
At no point will Dan Cox or his Coxwombles take any responsibility for their actions or the actions of the candidate.
On the left, the Democrats continue to call anything that Larry Hogan does as fascism. Veto a bill? Call it fascism. Talk about stopping Baltimore’s violence? Call it fascism. Not fund anti-women abortion training? Call it fascism.
The inmates are truly running the political asylum.
The following quote was applied to Cox. But it could just as easily encapsulate Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and a score of those on the left, too.
Well, here at The Duckpin, we will show No Quarter to these folks. We will not coddle them. If they want to have a meaningful debate, we can have it. But people who have no recourse but to deflect, conspiracy monger, call names or accuse others of crimes? They can get bent. Right or left, politically we will show No Quarter to the politically ignorant.
To that end, comments will be disabled on The Duckpin until further notice. I do not have the time to manage the conspiratorial ramblings we’ve been getting on there.
